Why should I care about digital art?
Matty does a great job explaining why digital art is being sold for $21k+.
Each piece of digital art will be in the form of a NFT (Nonfungible Token) that is verified on the blockchain. This means that the sales history will always be traced back to the original creator.
You can now prove that you own the original piece. When verifying an artwork for proof of authenticity, stolen work will never have the same ID.
The original data can never be altered.
Another great feature is the ability to use your digital art as collateral. Above, Gabby bought βCubist Satoshiβ from Trevor Jones for 4.3 ETH (~$1700 at the time) and is now able to take out a loan on it for 10 ETH (~$6k).
(Note: If you donβt want to deal with fluctuating cryptocurrency prices, youβre also able to take out a loan using stable cryptocurrencies like Dai pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar.)
